It’s that time again Australian friends. It’s the end of another financial year and time to lodge our tax returns. Awesome exciting news if you’ve paid tax and are preparing for a return. But how do you make sure that you are maximising your return and minimising the time it takes you or your tax professional to lodge your return? You do what good Scout’s do and be prepared!
Because we are based in Australia this baby is specific to Australians in the current financial year. We say in the sheets that you should seek professional advice that is specific to your case. So do that, even if you need to run it by a parent or trusted adultier adult. That said it’s been my experience with the Taxation Department that if you mean well, are genuine in your returns, then it’ll work out in the end.
Oh, and make sure you lodge on time, they get a little cranky when you’re late!
That said the checklist should give you a clear idea of the types of documents you will need to have to lodge your tax return. It’ll mean that you can grab a folder, a shoebox or a lunchbox and show up prepared with summaries, receipts and statements. If this is your first full return, it lists everything from house purchases to divorces. So to say you’re covered, is an understatement in my books. Are you ready then? It’s download time!
