The question today is how to have wrinkle free clothes without ironing. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we. Back when I first left home, my Mum thought she had sent me off with all the life skills I would need to care for myself. She had taught me to cook, clean the house, and to turn up every day wearing clean wrinkle free clothes.
Fast forward about two months into leaving the nest. I was sharing a house with three others and working for the local newspaper in their Art Department. My work attire wasn’t that different to the clothes that I had worn the year before in College. Smart casual. So I knew how to wash and iron them.
Simple really. But it wasn’t. Life was happening at a mighty fast rate and late nights turned very quickly into running late mornings and I found myself throwing on my work clothes and racing off to work. All creased and disheveled.
I had no time for ironing; there was too much life to be had!
A work colleague was obviously given the task by other work mates to pull me aside and ask what was going on with my clothing. The impeccably dressed young lady that once was had more wrinkles than her Nana’s forehead.
I was so embarrassed!
It only took one mention for me to amend my ways and always ensure I had work clothes ironed for the following day. Now many years on, I rarely have a day in wrinkled clothing. I guess the embarrassment of the situation is something that has stuck with me ever since.
So I am guessing you are thinking that this post is going to end with me telling you to iron every stitch of clothing within an inch of its life each and every time they are washed.
I don’t have time to play that game and neither do you! Instead this is a post about how to have wrinkle free clothes without ironing. Iron free tips and tricks. You’ve got a life to be had, I’m sure, so let’s get the ball rolling.
The how to have wrinkle free clothes without ironing guide is done and dusted. It’s helpful but you’re stuck with an item that NEEDS to be ironed. Now what? Pop over to read the second guest post by Gayel in this topic, tips for ironing when you can’t avoid doing it no matter how hard you tried!
