Everyone hates ironing. Sometimes it’s just one of those things that cannot be avoided. Like death and taxes. To look like a grown up you have to iron sometimes. Guest writer Gayel Stewart-Airs of The Content Queen has some tips for how to iron when you just can’t avoid it.
It says something about a person when they turn up to start the day with tidy, crease-free clothing. Like their eager and waiting to tackle the world. When it all comes down to it its the only reason to iron. Crumpled shirts never impressed anyone.
So if all else fails (did you read our post on wrinkle free clothes WITHOUT ironing? Start there) and you need to iron. Well then the time has come, you need to do these things.
There is always going to be at least one item you own that will need a rub over from time to time. I cannot tell you enough how fabulous Steam Tank Irons are. They heat up very quickly, and you can iron a men’s business shirt in under 2 minutes.
Not in the budget? See if there’s a spare lying around your older siblings or parents house. You never know. Otherwise, it’ll be worth saving up for if you’re preparing for a professional career. You and an iron are about to be best friends.
Keep everything you need to iron in one place. Ironing board, ironing spray (if you have difficult clothes to iron) and iron. You can purchase small ironing boards that fit perfectly on a bench top if space is an issue. Keeping all the paraphernalia in the one place reduces the time it takes to iron and the struggle it is to make it happen.
If you find yourself always running late in the mornings, set aside some time on the weekend to get all of your ironing done for the week in advance. Put on a great movie or playlist and knock it all over at once.
One good slow run of the item is better than five fast, flippy ones. Take you time, cover all the area, and you’ll find your overall ironing time decreases.
Now go forth… and enjoy your days crease free
